Immersive installations, aiming to investigate the relationship between human + art + space at different scales, while exploring sociological and cultural topics.

Transcendence, an immersive art installation from Indra Alam and Aaron Alam designed and built by the artist in Brickell City Center, Miami, Florida.

The project invites the audience to explore a procession of vibrations at three access points. Ultimately enabling the viewer to elevate and reach a higher state of being at the apex space, The Ceremonial; where senses of touch, scent, sight, and the orientation are heightened.

GRIDSCAPE, AN INTERACTIVE ART INSTALLATION BY INDRA ALAM CONSISTS OF PARALLEL AND INTERSECTING GRID PANE SURFACES, CREATING A SPATIAL VOID WITHIN,  THEN LINKED BY TANGIBLE POINTS OF CONNECTION. OCCUPANTS/PARTICIPANTS ARE TO CHOOSE A QUADRANT POINT INTERVENED BY SOMEONE ELSE OR START YOUR OWN POINT OF CONNECTION.

SUBSEQUENTLY, A RIBBON IS TIED TO THAT FIRST POINT OF CONNECTION, AND TO A SECOND (END POINT). AS THIS ACT CONTINUES FROM ONE USER TO THE NEXT;  THE SPATIAL VOID BECOMES INHABITED BY TRACES OF PAST VISITORS. A NETWORK OF TRACES IS THE RESULT. USERS ARE FREE TO STEP INSIDE / WITHIN/ OVER THE VOID TO CREATE THEIR “CONNECTIONS” (THIS IS A TIME TO REFLECT ON PAST INHABITANTS CHOICES).

In the present day, our world is fast paced and over stimulated, to say the least. Disclosed Domain invites the user to pause and frame moment[s] and become aware of the surroundings by stimulating the senses of sight, touch and direction. As the user navigates the networks of paths, the contrast of materials and transparency will entice touch while altering the field of vision. The installation is not only experienced by the users inside, but also by those viewing it from the outside, as the panels will feature strategically places cutouts to frame the behavior of those on its interior. 

Light As Air was created for SOBEWFF (South Beach Wine and Food Festival) 2018, in collaboration wit HEINEKEN Light. 

The installation consists of two floating pieces, composed of shattered glass; representing Heineken Light's slogan "Sometimes lighter is better".
